Not exactly. About 10 years ago the US Department of Education implemented a rule requiring accredited schools to offer at least 51% of their degree programs with substantive instructor engagement when "telecourses" are used. This killed the correspondence school approach you're alluding to.

Simultaneously, DETC changed its name to DEAC and then strictly applied this rule to its accredited schools. It actually drove more than one out of business. Obviously, CCU was not one of those victims.

To see to what extent student support, instruction, and advising is given, I would suggest contacting the school.

I don’t know about all that, but I do know that two years ago, a coworker of mine was going there and she said the same thing…. It’s all just reading and writing papers.  The instructor's interaction was just comments on her papers.  I don't know if that is considered substantive, but to me it sounds like a snoozefest.

How would that 51% with substantive instructor enrollment work with schools who accept 50% or more transfer credits? Seems like a disconnect here.

The percentage refers to the instruction offered in each course, not the number of courses.

Another DBA option just opened up. The University of Technology and Management just received Regional Accreditation from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE). They offer a DBA program that is $400 per credit ($24,000) and 60 credits. If you are a first responder or in the military, tuition is $250 per credit ($15,000). This would be a steal for someone in law enforcement or the military, making it one of the cheapest doctorates.
