FSD has killed people.
Defense of free speech? What Kool Aid are you drinking? People are constantly censored on X.
Value created for the world? Nope. Value created for the wealthy and himself. The world does not benefit for the majority of his ventures. He does it for himself to make more money. He doesn't give a flying fig about the world or anyone other than himself.
Definitely not envious of him. I care about others. I have empathy. I don't see a happy person when I see him or the other uber wealthy. Not one of them looks happy. I'd rather be poor and happy than wealthy and miserable. I say this as someone who grew up poor and was homeless multiple times.
On EV Batteries and the Environment:
LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery cells don't use cobalt or nickel. According to the IEA, LFP now makes up over 55% of global EV batteries and over 90% of grid storage deployments. While Tesla still uses NMC cells in some American models, they heavily utilize LFP in standard range cars and overseas. Also, Sodium-ion batteries are rapidly emerging as a cost-effective, sustainable technology that has recently entered mass production. The alternative to batteries is burning oil, which destroys urban air quality and has been the cause of countless geopolitical wars.
On FSD:
Tesla's data shows that Full Self-Driving (Supervised) is roughly 7 to 9 times safer than the average U.S. human driver. According to the NHTSA, human drivers kill roughly 40,000 people a year in the US alone. Headline events don't change the statistical reality that Tesla's FSD technology is actively reducing accidents, and it will only keep improving.
On Twitter (X) and Free Speech:
There is a fundamental difference between censorship and banning someone. People used to live in daily fear of being banned and completely losing their voice on X just for holding an unpopular opinion. I am aware of some headline news of Twitter periodically suspended or restricted accounts of prominent journalists, particularly those critical of owner Elon Musk or his companies.
On Capitalism and Elon Musk:
I care about others too. I understand the frustration people have about the cost of living. You are absolutely right that living today is incredibly difficult when rent, groceries, and healthcare are eating up paychecks. I also agree with your underlying premise that capitalism isn't perfect and Elon Musk has flaws as a human being.
I said NOTHING about cobalt or nickel.
Elon personally has banned and censored many people on X. Twitter did not suspend or restrict journalists who were critical of Elon. That was all X. It was Elon. He's far from a wonderful person.
